POSTGASTRECTOMY SYNDROME
KIM, SE KYUNG
Abstract
Postgastrectomy syndromes are afferent loop syndrome, dumping syndrome, reflux alkaline gastritis, efferent loop syndrome and small pouch-syndrome. Postgastrectomy syndrome occurs about 25% following gastric operations that impaired the function of the pylorus.
Only 1% of postgastrectomy syndrome may need the remedial operation and expect to have satisfactory results in 80%. Postgastrectomy syndrome occurs alone or in combination.
When it is necessary to perform the remedial procedure for postgastrectomy syndrome, the surgeon must identify a specific postgastrectomy syndrome or combination to perform the appropriate remedial operative procedure.
Various postgastrectomy syndromes were presented and remedial operative procedures were discussed.
